~Drama Review~

I haven't kept track of the dramas this year and so SBS' "Sign" was really a random choice. But WOW !!! I'm taking back all the things I've said about SBS having the worst dramas of the three main Korean networks. I was so blown away by the quality of everything... the actors' game, the script, the OST, the scenery, everything !

Initially, I had mixed feelings when I saw the positive reviews because except for Jeong Gyu Woon that I liked a bit - well, he's cute too lol - I wasn't feeling the other cast members especially Kim Ah Joong (after "That Fool" I had enough of her, ugh !) and Park Shin Yang (this was more a visual thing, he just didn't appeal to me). How wrong was I !!1

This is the type of forensic drama that you usually see in the US like CSI, NCIS, etc...

The whole drama revolves more or less around the death of idol singer Seo Yoon Hyung who was killed during the break period of the concert his group was having. Of course we have some other cases in between, which makes things the more enjoyable.

Yoon Ji Hoon (Park Shin Yang) is a forensic doctor working at the National Forensic Service (NFS). He strongly believes in proving the truth with the help science and in listening to the dead (that is through an autopsy). He is quite stubborn and complex - the type of person who seems harsh and that you love to hate at first then you end up loving them when you get to know them better.

Assisting him is Go Da Kyung who I found to be quite the believable character. I mean I could totally see that person in real life. Kudos to Kim Ah Joong, I loved Da Kyung a lot ! She is a bright person who always thinks for the dead. She puts her feelings first and can be impulsive at first but with the help of Yoon Ji Hoon, she improves and accomplishes her dream of becoming like him. I was really proud of her in the last episode.

Jung Woo Jin is a novice prosecutor and the ex of Yoon Ji Hoon but thank God, we don't get too much ex-lovers melodrama here and she helps our two main characters aided herself by Choi Yi Han, a police detective who likes to do his own thing and go off on his own. The four of them form an awesome team and throughout all the cases that came up, they always worked well together. I really liked that there was no unnecessary drama.

The killers were crazy especially the last one, before the final case. I just wanted to slap him when he was acting sad, then laughing lool ! A real psycho. The drama does a good job at showing you how power can really mess things and how wicked the world is especially when some people get a God complex thinking that they can do anything to anyone and never get punished (Kang Seo Yeon).

Even the ending that was quite controversial fitted well with the drama. I don't see how it could have been solved differently seeing how things played out and looking at what type of person Yoon Ji Hoon was, he could not let the main case go like that. There were no more evidences, or witness alive. He made the final sacrifice to solve his case, to do what he loved the most. That was tragic but that's the type of man he was.

I give this drama a 9/10 and recommend it right away !! It seems a bit underrated. It's true the romance isn't the main focus but you won't regret !!!

~Drama Review ~

A resfreshing change in K-drama land, 'Smile You' is the type of dramas that you almost want to skip but end up being so glad you didn't.

Indeed the story may not seem new. The plot of a rich spoiled heir or heiress being rude to the poor guy or girl with whom they will eventually fall in love with after a drastic change of personality has been used endlessly; however, the solid cast, creative writing and valuable lessons worked in creating what I would call an almost perfect drama.

I'd never heard of most of these actors and totally disliked Lee Min Jung in Boys Before Flowers - yes I'm a Makino/ Domyouji camper for life lol - so when I saw that she was the Ha Jae Kyung, I couldn't believe it. This actress is one to be watched in the future. Her performance is what I call great acting, going from one role to the next without a sense of deja-vu is something not everyone can do well. Jung In was a girl I totally hated at the beginning, boy was she immature. Then, I saw her growing in front of my eyes. I ended up loving her the most (ok the most after Hyun Soo :p hahaha)

Jung Kyung Ho wasn't any less superb. Honestly, Kang Hyun Soo is now my new ideal man lol ! Here is a guy that seemed so weak and weird at the beginning who can actually stand up for himself and stand his ground against his parents about the woman he wants to be with. Not to mention that he is smart, funny and romantic. I was totally taken by Jung Kyung Ho's charm and I already can't wait to see more of him in the future.

Whoever did the casting for this drama needs to be in charge more often. The supporting cast was very well chosen. In fact, this is the first time that I came to think that the roles were written for these specific people and no one else would have been able to play them as well. From Jung In's silly oppa, Lee Chun Hee, and her father Kang Suk Woo, to Hyun Soo's overbearing mother, Song Ok Sook, every character fitted the picture and contributed to the growth of the lead couple.

Also the drama did not lose its main focus of the sense of a family. It makes one think about the meaning of the word family and how we associate with our own. From beginning to end, it was a delight for the eyes and the heart.

So if you're looking for a fun, romantic drama to watch, be sure to give this a try, you won't regret it ^^.

~Drama Review~

How many times have you told yourself after a drama “this was the best drama ever!”? If you’re like me, you probably did countless of times; however, after watching “Yi San – King Jeong” I don’t think I’ll ever use these words so lightly. Lee Byung Hoon PD did it again people, just this time, he surpassed himself. I have to give it to him and all the people who worked on this drama, everyone did a wonderful job. Wow! I actually have no word appropriate enough to describe this powerful representation of the life of King Jeong Jo, 22^nd ruler of the Joseon Dynasty.

The storyline revolves around the life of King Jeong Jo (Yi San) who was one of the greatest rulers of the Joseon Dynasty. The drama starts when he is 11 years old and moves on to show all the struggles he experienced from his young years. There is also some romance in the side story of the king and Song Yeon, a young girl from a poor background whom he met during his childhood. Along with Dae Su, the nephew of an eunuch, the three become friends, get separated and again meet during Yi San’s adult life. Song Yeon and Yi San’s affection for each other grows into love and she eventually becomes a royal concubine while Dae Su’s unrequited love remains unfulfilled. The story evolves to focus onto the political tensions of the time and Yi San’s struggles to accede to the throne first then the achievement of some his innovative ideas for a new Joseon.

At first glance, the drama might seem long and boring. Yes, 77 episodes will not be watched in one day –and yes, you might not be interested in politics - but let me tell you, your time will be worth every second you’ll spend in front of your screen. I’m the type of person who gets bored very easily especially while watching historical dramas but I found myself watching 8-10 episodes of “Yi San” in a row every night until the end – no kidding! You just can’t stop once you’ve started.

This drama is great because it touches King Jeong Jo's human side while keeping things simple. I can definitely see things happening in real life as they were portrayed in the drama. Lee Seo Jin (and his killer dimples lol!), Han Ji Min, Park Eun Hye and Lee Jong Soo, the main casts, showed their great skills, adding true emotions and passion to their roles. It is really hard not to love the characters and get attached to them; even the bad characters grow on you. Overall I will give a 10 to this drama. The only negative point that I can see is that it had to end haha.

Synospsis:

I, Doumyouji Tsukasa, have formally decided to get married in the spring of next year! I will be marrying the woman of my destiny, who captured my heart and never let it go, Makino Tsukushi!!

In a hotel in Japan, Tsukasa held an extravagant press conference to announce this to the entire world. Afterwards, Tsukushi is targeted even by television programs, which are hailing her as a modern-day princess.

Following that, when the Makino family and the Doumyouji family gathered together to give their engagement presents to the couple, Doumyouji's mother, Kaede, once Tsukushi's divine enemy who was always opposed to the match, offered Tsukushi a 10-billion-yen tiara as proof of her acceptance of the engagement. The tiara, named the "Smile of Venus," is an heirloom that has been passed down through the generations to women in the Doumyouji family.

That night, as she sat in her hotel room watching the tiara sparkle, Tsukushi embraced all of her worries about how, by marrying Tsukasa, who had become successor to his family corporation, everything in her peaceful life was about to change. Tsukasa, sensing her mental state, swore to her, "I will protect you for the rest of my life. Come with me without any worries!" But in front of the two at that moment, suddenly, a man dressed in black crashed through the window, took the tiara, and ran away! Not knowing what was going on, Tsukushi and Tsukasa chased after the man. But in the blink of an eye, he vanished into the city.

Dumbfounded by this event, the two returned to the hotel room only to be dumbfounded again at the sight before their eyes. The window glass that had only just been broken, and the furniture that had been damaged in Tsukasa's struggle with the man, had all been replaced as if nothing had ever happened!

This way, the situation takes on the appearance not of the tiara having been stolen, but that Tsukushi lost it herself. They must get it back at any cost! This is no time to be getting married now! Is the owner of the hotel in on it as an accomplice too? Is his goal the 10-billion tiara? Or to put a stop to Tsukushi and Tsukasa's wedding? And who is the culprit...?

In order to retrieve the "Smile of Venus" tiara, which legend has it will "bring eternal love to its bearer," Tsukushi and Tsukasa give chase through Hong Kong, Las Vegas, and throughout the world. And, what of the "F4," who have begun to walk their own paths in life? What are they doing now, and where are they?

She begins to idolize him, and decides to move to Japan to attend the same school as him. However, Izumi goes to an all-boys school, so Mizuki disguises herself as a boy to achieve her dream of being with her idol.

Opinion: This drama is just as excellent as the Taiwanese version. Though they are both based on the same drama, the Japanese version doesn't follow the details as closely as the Taiwanese did. It sure makes it more refreshing to watch because there is no impression of deja-vu and I keep anticipating the next actions excitedly. Moreover, it is so funny, sometimes I just have to pause the video, laugh then rewind re laugh and go on. Definitely give it a try if you haven't started already.

Synopsis: During her very first photo shoot, Napat (Pat) a model wanna-be argued with Chen -an opinionated photographer- for being late. Since then, she held a grudge against him because he told her that she would never be famous. However a few years later, she becomes one of the most talented model in the Thai entertainment circle. They both get to meet again for the anniversary party of a renowned magazine. At the celebration, there is a drinking contest in which Pat, after the insistence of Anna her best friend, participates as representant of the models. Later on, very drunk she manages to go back to her room with Anna's help. On the other hand, Chen who is in company of his girlfriend Jasmine -a.k.a Pat's most hated co-worker (she is also a model)- decides to go wait for her in her room to avoid the gossips. In the midst of all these events, Chen also gets drunk and ends up in Pat's room due to an unfortunate exchange of bags. The irreversible happens and Pat gets pregnant. Convinced that Chen is just a player, she decides to find a father for her baby when he decides to make her fall for him. Will he succeed? ***Xu Wei Lun was a well-known actress from Taiwan, first noticed by the press for her role in a television commercial for the convenience store chain 7-Eleven, and later for her role in the GTV drama True Love 18 for which she was nominated Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Bell Awards. From there, she would go on to take on leading roles in various television dramas and movies.

Xu Wei Lun met with an accident on the Taichung stretch of Taiwan's National Highway No. 1 at 23:15 on 2007 January 26 while travelling with her assistant to Nantou for the filming of Tai Yang De Nu Er. Despite 43 hours of emergency treatment, she passed away on January 28, 2007 at 19:37 local time, 2 hours after developing some complications.

Biography

S.H.E is a Taiwanese girl group famous in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, and other parts of Asia plus in some Asian communities around the globe. The group consists of Selina Ren, Hebe Tian, and Ella Chen.

During 2003, S.H.E's success as a group led them high-profile advertising deals, most notably for Coca-Cola. In 2004, Blizzard Entertainment asked the band to help them advertise their best selling MMORPG computer game, World of Warcraft. The commerical was mostly a computer generated video, where the girls were put into the context of a fantasy gaming world. S.H.E's best hit was released which has topped all charts in Asia is Super Star.

At present, they are one of the most popular groups in Asia. S.H.E has an extraordinary album and concert sales record that have set a new ticketing record at Shanghai People's Stadium during the Perfect 3 Tour. Their popularity was never doubted as autograph sessions were always over-crowded. They have just celebrated their 5th anniversary on the 11th of September,2006 upon marketing their success in the music industry.

On August 8, 2000, HIM International Music held a 'Universal 2000 Talent and Beauty Girl Contest' in search for new artists to be signed under their label. The contest had about 1000 contestants and after many tiring rounds of competing, seven contestants were left for the 'Cruel Stage' round. The three members of S.H.E were formed from here. Following the competition, the record company gave all seven contestants an audition. At the beginning, only one would be given a contract, but because of their incredible performance, all three of them were signed together under HIM International records. Together, they formed S.H.E with Selina Ren, Hebe Tian and Ella Chen.

Selina Ren is the actual winner of this contest. Her younger sister really wanted to join but was too young. Instead, Selina joined the contest in her place. She caught the judges' attention in the first round by singing Coco Lee's 'Before I Fall In Love' and entered the final round with no trouble with 'The Closest Stranger'. Due to her nervousness during the final round, Selina was called twice. When Selina was announced the winner, she was doubtful because there were other contestants who did not get called on.

Hebe Tian was recommended to join by the workers of the television show 'Cruel Stage'. During the first round, her voice started breaking while singing 'Return Home'. Hebe decided to sing a song with a lower key in the final round. However, because she was unfamiliar with that song, she forgot the lyrics in the finals, messing up her performance. Nonetheless, the manager appreciated her straight personality.

When Ella Chen and her younger brother went to Taipei from Pingtung for a holiday, Ella's elder sister registered her into the competition. Ella almost gave up before the first round because of the long queue of contestants, but was convinced by her sister to stay. Ella made her way through the final round due to her unique deep voice, which caught the company's attention and made her stand out from the others.

After the three of them were signed to HIM, the company did not make them a group because their different personalities and looks did not fit with what the audience was used to. However, because Taiwan never had an all-girl group made up of different personalities and appearances, the company thought that the idea would be new and fresh, and boldly put the three girls together. When the three girls initially heard this, they did not really accept the decision because it was not what they had in mind.

All three of them came from different places, never telephoned each other and only said 'Hi' when they met briefly. Because most of the songs in the album did not require them to sing together, their relationship at the outset was not very good, which caused the company some consternation. When the company had them stay in the same room, in the same dormitory, the girls worried that conflict would arise.

Regardless, the company hoped that this situation would help them learn to cooperate with each other. To prevent them from arguing, the record company set a few house rules for the girls living in the dormitory.

After a week, HIM's worries were gone because the three girls grew closer. The three girls lived in a small dormitory together for a few months, which proved a little challenging, as sometimes they would cry under their blankets due to homesickness. As part of their bonding experience, when they were bored, they opened the window, ate junk food, and watched the stars.

Synopsis
Rui Xi is a lively girl who comes back from America after falling head over heels for a boy named Zuo Yi Quan when she saw his high jump performance on television. Wanting to get to know him more, she decides to find out all about him by going to the same school as him. But, there is a big problem; Quan goes to an all boys school! After much persuasion to her family and getting help from her good friend, Rui Xi disguises herself as a boy and goes to the school Quan attends. Coincidently, they are in the same class and are even roommates at the dorm! At first Quan thinks that Rui Xi is gay because she is straightforward, therefore he doesn't like her too much. Jin Xiu Yi befriends with Rui Xi because he thinks she is funny. During physical lesson, Rui Xi faints after a challenge with Xiu Yu. Flying to her rescue, Quan is shocked to discover that she is a girl, but he keeps it to himself. Mei Tian is the school doctor and he is gay. He too, finds out about Rui Xi's identity but promises to keep it a secret. He soon becomes her consoler when she needs someone to talk to. Xiu Yi quickly falls in love with Rui Xi, but doesn't know that Rui Xi is a girl and keeps suspecting himself of being gay. Slowly, Quan and Rui Xi start to develop a very close friendship. Many mishaps and challenges awaits Rui Xi. Will she be able to get her life through high school perfectly, without anyone discovering that she's a girl, but at the same time be close to Quan?

~My Opinion

Just the first episode and this drama got me addicted already. It reminds me of the 'It Started With A Kiss' "effect" haha. It's so funny and I read the manga after the first eps, the actors couldn't have been anyone else. They just fit their role perfectly. I encourage you to give it a try. However I've got to warn you, if you are not too much in the humour gay, you probably won't like it as much. But well, who knows?

~Opinion

This is a change in the history of Korean dramas. This drama is so funny from the first episode to the last one, and even when it's sad, you can't help but cry because it's seems sooo true! Moreover the OST rocks. I recommend it to everyone. It's one of my favorite Korean drama.

The one person Shuji cannot stand is Kusano Akira. Unlike Shuji, Akira is just plain annoying. Akira loves his soy milk so much, he gets drunk from it. He laughs funny, he talks funny, and he acts funny. Nobody in class takes Akira seriously. Shuji can't stand the sight of Akira and it drives him nuts that Akira does whatever he wants despite Shuji's expressed dislike of him.
Shuji has a daily ritual of touching a certain willow tree for good luck. One day, he is startled to find out that his willow tree was uprooted and in its place, a freaky-looking girl telling him that some people took the tree somewhere else to be spotted. She joked that she was planning to hang herself from that tree. Scared, Shuji runs away.
Things heat up when a new student comes to school. Shuji is shocked to find out that the new student was the freaky girl he saw the day his willow tree disappeared. Her name is Kotani Nobuko, a girl who has no self confidence at all and is content at being made fun of and bullied in school.
Shuji and Akira come to an accord that in order to make use of their "youth" they will "produce" Nobuko as the next popular girl. One of the conditions, however, is that nobody should find out that they are working together as a team to make this concept possible.
Of course, there can be no protagonist without an antagonist. There is a mysterious girl in school jeopardizing the duo's plan to make Nobuko popular. The mystery continues to unfold.
Unveiled here is the story of true friendship between three unlikely candidates who would not have been friends if not given the special circumstances!

Opinion

The beginning of this drama is funny but sad at the same time. However, I can't bring myself to stop watching it because it is such a good drama. Moreover, Zai Zai is awesome picturing the cold guy ^^. Totally love it!!

This new serie is extremely funny. The actors are so cute and the OST is just perfect. Plus the plot gets better with the time. Personnally, it's one of my favorite drama. The director said that it's the Taiwanese version of "Full House", but I think it's funnier and the story line match only a few parts.

The two meet when Ling asks Qi Luo for directions to a local hospital one day in the park, but instead of telling him the directions she draws him a map and hands it to him without saying a word. On the back of the directions is a picture she drew of a mother and child. One the first day school they are both surprised to find that they are in the same class. Later Ling walks in on their teacher sexually harassing Qi Luo. He promises to protect her in exchange for a painted version of the sketch that was on the back of the map. He also offers to "lend Qi Luo his body" and she asks him to model for her. All this interaction leads to a very interesting relationship between the two.

Opinion
This is such a good drama, I recommend it to every body!
